One of the most important things in my sobriety is staying grateful. It’s something that I have to do on a daily basis even with 16 years of sobriety. While running Graceland the biggest blessing comes from seeing the residents life’s change and witnessing their growth in the house. We have residents who are so filled with humility, surrender, and gratitude that they are willing to go to any lengths to be of service to each other and take action in their own recovery. When my life seems to be chaotic and stressful, I can come to Graceland to change my perspective on how I am feeling by listening to the residents vent to me or just spending quality time with them. They truly are more of a service to me when I get to see them thriving in their step work, getting creative with our art studio or making music, and even setting up activities to do together outside the house. Our goal here at Graceland is to give everyone an opportunity to express themselves in a safe environment, free to be who they are and want to be moving forward. To give each individual resident the resources to explore the AA community and program by guiding them to establish a support system within the house and outside of it. To feel apart of something special and to encourage their drive to want to be sober for the rest of their lives by giving them hope, love, and an immense amount of support as they heal. It is a privilege to be a member of Graceland Ranch and it is a privilege for me to witness the miracles happening to each grateful resident. That is what motivates my attitude of gratitude every single day.
This is the start of the Graceland Ranch Blog, we will have posts from the residents themselves about how the house has helped them or what they are dealing with currently, stay tuned!
Our doors are open to welcome anyone who is out there still struggling and willing to come live a better, sober life with a strong community of like minded individuals in search for the same goal, to be free of the chains of addiction.
